Shown in HH of Hiram Rust 1840 Census of Russia, Herkimer, NY, age 83, Revolutionary Pensioner, for a calculated YOB of 1758. In 1850 he is not found. Tombstone says died 1847 at age 95, which would calculate to b 1752. His pension file states that he applied May 16, 1818 at which time he was age 60, [calculating to 1758] living in Dutchess County, NY. He enlisted at Kent, Litchfield, CT May 1775 and served 7 months under Captain Eleazer Curtis; reenlisted Dec 1776 and served one year under Captain Brown.
Living in Herkimer County, NY in 1835 per The 1841 Pensioners List for New York State.
Born in 1759 in Connecticut. He had eight children. Served seven years in the Revolutionary war. Abel Rust came to Russia in 1818 and settled on the farm now owned by Jessie Stone. - Hist of Herkimer Co NY p 190-1
All of the children's birth dates are VR documented except for Laura, Julius and Hiram. Hiram is documented later by both census and tombstone. Sarah I's death is VR documented and Eunice is married prior to 1800 when 2 sons and 3 daus appear in the HH. The 3 daus can only be then Lucy, Sarah II and Laura, making Laura's YOB before 1800 [and, with the extra f on the 1790 possibly even prior to that.] Julius appears consistently in Scriba, Oswego, NY with a YOB calculating to 1792/3, and Hiram's census YOB calculates consistently to 1794/5--both of them being too young to leave home by 1800. Philo would have been 14, and though not yet married, he had to have been the absent son. It should be noted that the male marks found in 1790 are not strictly supported by VR or later census entries. Census 1790 Kent CT and 1800 Pawling NY
